Cost of kit, shipping and administrative registration: € 250.00 VAT inclusive, to be paid before delivery.
The cost of cryogenic storage for 25 years is € 2,000.00 VAT inclusive and includes:
- Complete assistance for all antenatal and postnatal practices
- Shipping of sample by international express courier (DHL) to England
- Processing of blood and laboratory tests for storage
- Entry of data on database
- Sending cryogenic storage certificate (of laboratory test results)
- Storage of stem cells for the first 25 years
- Immediate availability of sample worldwide
The transparency and scientific rigour of a quality service means that parents receive a very detailed cryogenic storage certificate from SmartBank.
SmartBank communicates the results of the sample in the cryogenic storage certificate with complete transparency, in terms of:
- Quantity: total quantities of leukocytes and CD34+ cells
- Quality: degree of cell vitality (or metabolic activity)
and is committed to adopting high sample selection criteria to observe the current minimum parameters for an onco-haematological transplant.
Right to Withdrawal from Storage Contract
In some rare cases, owing mainly to an insufficient amount of blood (40 ml is the minimum volume for testing a sample) the sample could be lower than the minimum parameters for an onco-haematological transplant:
< 500,000 CD34+ cells and/or < 60% of cell vitality
In this case, SmartBank, besides the cryogenic storage certificate, also sends parents a “Statement of Withdrawal”; the parents have 30 days from its receipt to decide whether to withdraw from the storage contract by completing and returning the statement to SmartBank, with time to consult Smartbank’s Scientific Director, Dr Martini, or their family doctor.
In the event of withdrawal, SmartBank will refund the total cost of the cryonic storage service (or whatever has already been paid) net of a fixed sum of €500,00 VAT inclusive, as partial coverage of the processing and cryogenic storage expenses (exclusive of €250 cost of kit).
Refunds
The policy of refunds in the contract reflects the intention to safeguard parents in all possible circumstances.
Under art. 4 “Termination and Refunds” of the storage contract, Smartbank specifies three kinds of refund:
4.1 Refund of Kit: Parents/Guardians want to cancel their order of the kit
4.2 Refund of the Service Cost to Parents/Guardians: when it is impossible to collect or process the sample
4.3 Parents/Guardians’ Right of Withdrawal and Partial Refund: when sample results are lower than minimum parameters for an onco-haematological transplant.
The contract can be terminated when:
- it is impossible to collect or ship the sample
- it is impossible to process the cord blood because of insufficient volume
- it is impossible to preserve a suitable quantity of stem cells
Should the contract be terminated there will be a total refund (€ 2,000.00) net of the kit cost of €250.00 VAT inclusive.
