Ban on conservation
In this sector we want to explain why SmartBank only deals with VENOUS CORD BLOOD.
Do you know how many sources of stem cells there are and what type of cells are found there?
| SOURCES | CELL TYPES |
| IN VENOUS CORD BLOOD |
|
| IN BONE MARROW |
|
| IN CORD TISSUE | Mesenchymal (MSC) |
| IN ADIPOSE TISSUE | Mesenchymal (MSC) |
| IN DENTAL PULP | Mesenchymal (MSC) |
| IN AMNIOTIC FLUID | Mesenchymal (MSC) |
| IN PERIPHERAL BLOOD (after haemapheresis) | Haematopoietic (HSC) |
Therefore VENOUS CORD BLOOD:
- contains the greatest number of stem cell types
- is the only source of postnatal “neonatal” stem cells free of immunological experience
- is authorized by Italian legislation
- has undergone over 80 clinical trials, together with bone marrow and peripheral blood cells
- moreover, the extraction of cells from cord tissue augments the number of cells in the laboratory
